David Nikolas grew up in Clifton, NJ and was very active in community and regional theatre throughout his high school and college years. Since graduating from Rider University, David has been a regular at professional theatres in the Greater Philadelphia area including The Eagle Theatre, Media Theatre, and Hedgerow Theatre. Favorite roles include Lyman Hall (1776), Hertz Kleinman (Rock Of Ages), Bill Slank (Peter & The Starcatcher), and Maurice Mullins (A Murder Has Been Arranged). On the screen, David has appeared in numerous short films and in the 2015 feature The Finders, and recently worked with director Zack Snyder on the Netflix feature Army Of The Dead. You may have also spotted him as a two-day champion on Jeopardy! in 2006.
As a director, David began his professional career in 2003 as the Creative Director of the Stockwood Renaissance Festival in Upstate New York. He has since had opportunities to work as assistant director and director on several regional productions in the area including Moonlight & Magnolias at The Eagle Theatre and The Sunken Living Room for Breaking Through The Box.
David has had the pleasure of working as a teaching artist with students on full productions and workshops throughout the area. Recent work includes a production of Shakespeare's The Tempest with the Recess Theatre Company; while performing as Prospero he introduced middle and high-school students to the professional rehearsal process, crafting a character, and incorporating director notes into a performance. He also works with Pennsauken High School and their musical theatre program as assistant director on their annual productions and leading workshops on improv and character development.
David lives in central New Jersey with his wife Jamie and their dogs Maya and Bruce.
